preschool

Our primary goal is to provide the children with a positive first school experience. It is important for parents to realize that in striving to provide a developmentally appropriate experience, play will be used as the vehicle for much of the children's learning. Leading educators in early childhood education have explained that "play is children's work". All these concrete, hands-on experiences will allow for the later development of more abstract concepts. So, when you ask your child about his/her day, and he/she tells you, "I played", then that's what they did!

We are using a unit-based curriculum which is organized around monthly themes. These units help children to more easily categorize, relate, and remember new information. At the beginning of each month, a newsletter and calendar will be sent home with information on the themes for that month.

Our daily schedule includes ample amounts of free choice time, small group activities, whole-group activities, and both student-directed and teacher-directed learning times. Our activities focus on mastery of skills in the areas of physical, social-emotional, cognitive, language, and spiritual development. Instruction in the classroom will focus on math and language readiness, science, social studies, health and safety, religion, art, and music.
